This will introduce you to how to read a commercial pattern. How to trace the size you wants (which allows you to keep your pattern intact and used again for other sizes). Cutting out of fabric and garment construction. Inserting elastic or a drawstring if preferred.
When: 2 Classes over 2 weeks. Contact me to arrange a suitable time.
What to bring pattern Simplicity 2290 in your size range. Fabric requirement will vary depending on the width of the fabric and what size you are making (child, adult, woman or men's) The back of the pattern envelope will tell you how much you need however if you are unsure please give me a ring/email/message me and I will get back to you with the requirements. Thread to match. Elastic or drawstring of your choice.
Fabric: Lightweight woven fabrics. Cotton, brushed cotton , flannel, gingham or chambray. Avoid slippery fabrics. A stretch fabric, Jersey etc may be used however if you are not familiar with sewing with stretch fabrics I wouldn't recommend this as a first choice.
* I always recommend pre-washing and ironing fabric prior to use
Extra fabric may be needed to match design or for shrinkage.
Once you have made a pair you can make so many more!
